The 112th episode of 'The Sunshine Happy Kpants Hour' is uploaded and now available through iTunes, Talkshoe, Stitcher Radio and streaming LIVE right here.
This week is a requested episode by my dear friend Sheena. With the passing of Robin Williams and the direct connection to things I've dealt with, it felt like it was only right to discuss it on this weeks episode. My topics are the works of Robin Williams, depression and mental issues and my own personal journey. It's not an upbeat episode in the traditional sense, but it still celebrates a life well lived.
Songs played this week:
1) Never Had A Friend Like Me by Robin Williams
2) Midnight In A Perfect World by DJ Shadow
3) Untitled 4 by Sigur Ros
4) Porcelain by Moby
5) Today by Smashing Pumpkins
6) We Are Family by The Goldman Girls
Also, I mentioned the meaning behind 'Today' by Smashing Pumpkins, this is from Wikipedia explaining what I mean: "The dark, ironic lyrics of "Today", describing a day when Corgan was feeling depressed and suicidal, contrast with the instrumentation. Michael Snyder of the San Francisco Chronicle said that the song is "downright pretty as rock ballads go" but that "Corgan manages to convey the exhilaration and tragic release he seeks." Corgan told Rolling Stone that "I was really suicidal ... I just thought it was funny to write a song that said today is the greatest day of your life because it can't get any worse." Corgan later compared writing the lyrics of "Today" and "Disarm" to "ripping [his] guts out.""
